The town of Bury is one of the lucky winners of a 150th Celebration Tulip Garden. In commemoration of Canada’s 150th birthday next year, Vesey’s Bulbs and the Canadian Garden Council teamed up to offer 150 gardens of 1000 red and white tulip bulbs to municipalities and organisations across Canada. The town of Bury, along with the other Eastern Townships communities of Ayer’s Cliff, Richmond and Sherbrooke, was chosen as a recipient of one of the gardens ! Bury has been holding its popular Canada Day parade and celebrations for 95 years, and the town is also known for having participated actively in both World Wars. The tulips will be planted along McIver Street on the hill in front of the cemetery, resting place of many of the veterans and visible to all who walk or drive by.
The ground was prepared by the town workers and rototilled by Steve Coates of Blueberry Hill farm (Bleueterie Coates). Compost was kindly donated by GSI Environement.
The bulbs will and make McIver Street beautiful in the spring for many years to come !
