Lignes du Coeur, Visions of Home, Otèhi a’ pâsinatâch, Alada8bw8gan ndakina wji

That’s the four-part name of an innovative exhibition of meditative circle-based art launched September 8 at the Cookshire-Eaton Art Gallery, and an accompanying book. The art is full of heart and imbued with a consciousness of nature. Many of the works in the show are full of colour, while the 72-page spiral-bound book focuses on line drawings just asking to be coloured-in by hand.

The whole represents a moon-cycle of 28 artworks, with comments by the 31 artists, including the project leader, Jo Cooper from Frontenac. The artists range in age from 7 to 80+, and are from various corners of Quebec, including several from the Haut-Saint-François, such as Ann Bilodeau, Normand Gladu, Amélie Lemay-Choquette and Denis Palmer. They used pencil, paintings on glass, ink, and various other media. The writings are in 10 different languages: Abenaki, Cree, Inuktitut, Innu, Cherokee, Basque, Korean, Sanscrit, English and French.

A bonus: With a QR code reader, scan the matrix barcode inside the back cover to hear vocals, flute and other melodies by six different muscians to accompany your colouring or meditating.

Books are available at the Maison de la Culture, 25 Principale W., Cookshire-Eaton, which is open Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment. Info: gillesdenis47@hotmail.com.
