Duo Ludwig in the Park

Duo Ludwig musicians Myriam Genest-Denis and Karine Breton treated more than 40 people to a concert on July 14 at the gazebo in the Parc des Braves in the heart of Cookshire. It was a busy Sunday, during the Route des Églises, but the noises of traffic and children’s voices faded away in favour of the flute and bassoon music, joined by a gentle breeze rustling the leaves. The audience gave rapt attention and generous applause to the music, beginning with a Courante by G.F. Handel, and ending with a Romance by composer Ferdinand Hummel.

Two more picnic-concerts are planned this summer: The Quintette de cuivres on August 18 and the Quatuor Estrielle on September 8. The series is co-sponsored by the Galerie d’art Cookshire-Eaton, the Chemin des Cantons, the IGA Cookshire, and the Town of Cookshire. Information is available at the Cookshire-Eaton Art Gallery, 25 Principale West, which is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
