This year again, the Cookshire Agricultural Fair will offer the famous activity of tractor and truck pulls. The Association Sportive de Tire de Tracteurs du Québec (ASTTQ) will be responsible for the show. On Friday and Saturday evenings, it will be possible to compete with your own race car or admire the power-enhanced tractors and trucks that so impress spectators. The first tractor-pulling competitions in Quebec appeared in the 1970s during the Saint-Hyacinthe Agricultural Fair. As more and more events were organized in the province and the rules were not always the same from one place to another, a group of amateurs decided to come together to establish the foundation of what is today the ASTTQ. Thus, in 1978, the Association Sportive de Tire de Tracteurs du Québec became the only truly structured organization for this sport in Quebec.
